What Safety Features Are Available?
The 2021 Sonata is built with safety in mind. Many standard safety features are ones that most manufacturers charge extra for. These include lane keep assist, forward collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, smart cruise control, high beam assist, and driver's knee airbags. On the higher trim levels, available safety features include blindspot monitoring, safe exit warning, which alerts drivers and passengers to oncoming traffic while exiting the vehicle, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. Hyundai engineers really thought of everything when it came to safety in the Sonata.
What About the Sonata Drivetrains?
The standard engine for the 2021 Sonata is a Gas Direct Injection (GDI) 2.5-liter inline-4 cylinder engine producing 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque while maintaining an estimated average MPG of 31. Next up is the turbocharged GDI-T 1.6L I-4 which kicks out 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque and gets an average estimated 30 MPG. Both engines are linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission and come standard with front-wheel-drive. Whether your travels are on the highway or in the city, the Sonata will not disappoint on merging, passing, or fuel economy!
Interior and Exterior Features
2020 brought a complete remodel to the Sonata. And while it might not have seemed like there was much to improve on, Hyundai designers disagreed. On the outside, the 2021 model year includes all-LED exterior lighting and chrome window moldings. On higher trim levels, heated side mirrors, side mirror-mounted turn signals, and front and rear sport style bumpers. With available features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, LED lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a proximity key with push-button start, the interior is where owners get the most out of their Sonata.
