Let's get started on that journey right now!
How do I know what pressure my Hyundai's tires should be?
The first question you may be asking yourself is How do you even know the right pressure? You may see a warning or notice your tires don't look quite right, but how do you know the right PSI? There are two places we recommend checking for the numbers of the right PSI for your Hyundai. The first of these should be pretty convenient, as it's located on a sticker that you will find on the driver's side doorjamb. That means all you have to do is open your driver's side door, and the numbers will be right there! The other way is to check the owner's manual that comes standard with your Hyundai. Your owner's manual quite literally has everything you need to know about your ride, including all of the servicing information. Our team would love to go over these figures with you!
What does it take to check tire pressure and add air?
Checking your tire pressure and adding more air are easy processes that won't take up too much of your time. The first thing you will want to do is remove the cap that is on the air valve of the tire, but make sure you don't lose it! You'll then put the tire gauge against the open valve for about one or two seconds. Read the air pressure gauge, and compare that with what the recommended pressure is for your car. If you need more air in your tires, then it's time to get started! You will want to make sure you are parked close to the air compressor you need, and remove the valve caps. Put the hose nozzle on the valve stem, and the air could flow automatically, or you may have to press some kind of lever. Remove the hose/release the lever, and check the air pressure. Keep doing this until your tires are at the right PSI.
What do I do when the TPMS light comes on?
TPMS, a shortened version of tire pressure monitoring system, is here to make sure that the tire pressure in your Hyundai's tires does not dip below a certain threshold. This means that when you do see the TPMS light flash on your Hyundai, we want to make sure you are taking the correct action! What do we mean by correct action? Well, if you are comfortable, this could be a good time to take out a pressure gauge and check each of your tires. Once you know the one that is the issue, you can bring your tire to the nearest air station so you can fill it to the correct PSI. However, if you would rather the professionals at Pearson Hyundai take care of this, we'll always be here to help! We always want you to be safe, so make sure to address the TPMS warning as soon as possible.
What is needed to check the tread of my Hyundai's tires?
We recommend using a simple penny trick to make sure that you have enough tread on your Hyundai's tires. The treads are what are responsible for giving you the traction you need on every journey, and trust us when we say you do not want to be driving around on bald tires. All you have to do is get out a penny, and put it head down into the tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, then you may want to consider getting new tires for your Hyundai. We know that it can be a hassle, but this becomes a safety hazard more than anything else when your tires don't have good tread wear.
